Glossary of Ingredients

Agar-Agar:

This thickening agent is derived from red seaweed and is high in fiber, it is used as an alternative to carrageenan.

Bacon: 

Bacon is a cut of pork added to provide unique flavor variety and enhanced palatability.

Beef:

Beef refers to muscle meat from cattle which is a source of high quality protein and essential amino acids.

Beef Bone:

Beef bone refers to skeletal tissue of cattle. It is a source of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, both of which are important for healthy bones and teeth.

Beef Kidney:

Beef kidney is a nutrient dense organ meat from cattle. It is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, especially B12 and iron.

Beef Hide:

Beef hide is great for chewing, while also providing a source of protein. 

Beef Liver:

Beef liver is nutrient dense organ meat from cattle. It is rich in protein, contains an easily absorbed form of iron, and provides essential vitamins.

Beef Lung

A nutrient dense organ meat from cattle. It is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin B12.

Biotin:

This water soluble B vitamin is necessary for metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, fatty acids, and non-essential amino acids. It helps maintain healthy skin and haircoat.

Black Pepper:

The fruit of the black pepper plant; a spice used to enhance flavor and thought to have antibacterial properties as well as antioxidant potential

Blueberries:

A fruit considered a superfood; a source of fiber and powerful antioxidants.

Calcium Carbonate:

 A supplemental form of calcium. This mineral is important in bone and dental health and supports skeletal structure and function.

Calcium Iodate:

A form of supplemental iodine. Iodine is essential in the synthesis of thyroid hormone.

Cane Sugar:

A natural sweetener and flavor enhancer made from sugar cane.

Canola Oil:

A vegetable oil derived from rapeseed that provides a blend of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids used for energy.

Chia Flour:

Chia flour consists of ground chia seeds and is a concentrated source of energy as well as fiber. It is notably high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Chicken:

Meat from chickens that is highly digestible, palatable and a lean protein source.

Chicken Broth:

Chicken broth is made by cooking chicken in water and is added to canned formulas as a source of moisture as wall as to enhance flavor.

Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols):

Chicken fat is a digestible source of energy which contains the fatty acids arachidonic and linoleic acids. These are important for immunity and inflammatory responses.

Chicken Heart:

Chicken heart is a nutrient dense organ meat from chicken. It is a lean source of protein that contains fatty acids, iron, and vitamins; it is high in vitamin B12.

Chicken Liver:

Chicken liver is a nutrient dense organ meat from chicken. It is rich in protein, iron, and vitamins  A and B12.

Chicken with Ground Bone:

Chickpea Flour:

Chickpea flour is made from ground chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans). Chickpeas are legumes rich in protein and fiber and are a good source of iron.

Choline Chloride:

A supplemental form of the B vitamin choline. Choline is necessary for building and maintaining cell structure, plays and important role in fat metabolism in the liver, and is essential for the formation of acetylcholine, a substance that is necessary for transmission of nerve impulses.

Chondroitin Sulfate:

An important structural component of healthy joint cartilage.

Citric Acid:

A natural antioxidant derived from citrus fruits that is used as a preservative.

Coconut Flour: 

Coconut flour is made from dried, ground coconut meat. It is a source of protein and carbohydrates that is also rich in fiber and healthy fatty acids.

Coconut Oil:

This oil, extracted from coconuts, is high in healthy fats and medium chain triglycerides.

Copper Proteinate:

This chelated form of copper is more easily absorbed from the digestive system because it is bound to protein. Copper is important for maintaining coat color.

Cranberries:

A fruit that is a natural source of vitamin C and potassium.

d-Calcium pantothenate:

A supplemental source of pantothenic acid, also called vitamin B6. It is an essential nutrient required to synthesize coenzyme-A as well as for synthesis and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. 

Dandelion Greens:

The green components (stem and leaf) of the dandelion plant. These greens provide a source of vitamins and minerals, especially calcium and iron, and are loaded with the antioxidants Vitamin A and C.

Dehydrated Chicken:

Chicken meat that has had the moisture removed. This is an easily digestible protein source.

This mineral supplement provides both calcium and phosphorus, two essential nutrients important for maintaining healthy teeth and bones.

Dried Apple:

Real apples that have been dried which provide a natural source of fiber as well as vitamins.

Dried Cheddar Cheese:
